To prove they are independent and no longer children,
young people (and, yes, you and I) do such childish things.
We ignore our parents, disdain custom and all authority,
foolishly risk body and soul, and double dog dare you, Lord,
to do anything about it.
What makes it so hard to freely, humbly, and cheerfully
admit our mutual dependence?
